Mông toi is also known as malabar spinach, Ceylon spinach, and climbing spinach.  Mông toi is not a true spinach, but its leaves, which form on a vine, resemble spinach and are used in the same way.  The plant thrives best during warm, rainy periods.  A small amount of shade seems to be beneficial, but direct sunlight does not harm the plant.  Mông toi can be grown from seeds or cuttings. Because it is a climbing vine, it is useful to create a trellis for it.
